It is so important to think positively and to see the positives in every situation, no matter how negative things may appear at the time. This workshop provides an insight into the benefits of achieving mental toughness and a positive mental attitude and what power these can bring to us all when practiced over time.
By using a combination of assessments and theory, this workshop will help delegates understand what it takes to develop mental toughness and a positive mental attitude in everything you do.
It is sometimes relevant to go way back over your lifespan to pinpoint areas that could have contributed to a less positive frame of mind and this will form part of the workshop.
There are many things that could contribute to negative thoughts and during the course of the program, we will explore the comfort zones that we all have and whether these can dictate where we sit on the positive or negative thought scale.

One of the key elements of this workshop is to make us understand what makes us tick. Why do we sometimes feel everything is too much or that we cannot cope? Why do our anxiety and stress levels peak at certain times and impact our mental toughness?
Fundamentally, we need to look deeper within ourselves, know what our trigger points are in different situations, and reflect on what we can do ourselves to improve the position we are facing.
With the aid of new techniques and tools, delegates will be able to put strategies in place to develop a positive mental attitude and work with a clearer mind and renewed focus. Negative thought drivers can be a thing of the past as you move into more positive thought territories. It will possibly be one of the most enlightening workshops you have ever attended – just come with an open mind!
Turning low self-esteem into more positive territory
Many stress-related problems can be made worse by low self-esteem. When you are down and depressed, any issue, no matter how big or small, can have a negative effect on the way you feel.
Having low self-esteem generally means that you have negative thoughts about the outcome of a particular situation, event or about yourself. Thinking “I can’t do this” is not the same as thinking “How can I do this?” It’s the classic “can’t do/won’t do” Vs “can do/will do” scenario.
6 top tips to help towards developing your mental attitude towards a positive mindset:
1. Positive affirmations
Start your day with some positive affirmations. Talk to yourself internally or in front of a mirror, Use positive statements such as “Today is going to be a good day” or “I’m going to achieve my goals today.” As a result, you will be pleasantly surprised at how much your day improves.
2. Focus entirely on the good stuff
It’s quite usual to encounter obstacles throughout the day and it’s rare to have a perfect day. When you encounter such a challenge, focus on the benefits, no matter how slight or unimportant they seem.
3. Learn from failures
Nobody is perfect. We are going to make mistakes and experience failure throughout our lives, but the key is in how we deal with these situations. Instead of focusing on how you failed, think about what you’re going to do next time. Know how to use your mental toughness to turn that failure or disappointment into a learning lesson of life.
4. Transform negative speak into positive speak
Negative speak can creep in easily and is often hard to notice. You might think “I’m really bad at this” or “I shouldn’t have tried that”. But these thoughts can quickly turn into internalised feelings and might cement almost false conceptions of yourself. When you catch yourself doing this, stop and replace those negative messages with positive ones.
5. Focus on the here and now
We are talking about the present, the here and now. Only this exact moment in time. Mindfulness is very powerful, so focus on this one, individual moment right now. In most situations, you’ll find it’s not as bad as you imagine it to be. Most thoughts of negativity stem from a trigger of a recent event or the exaggerated imagination (disasterising) of a potential future event. Always stay in the present moment, don’t dwell on the past or look into the future for problems.
6. Find positive friends, inspiring coaches, and mentors
What happens when you surround yourself with positive people? You will experience positive messages and outlooks, positive stories and positive affirmations. Everyone’s positivity will impact on you and affect your own thought process. Almost anybody in any situation can apply these lessons to their own lives and increase their positive mental attitude. Try not to surround yourself with negative people as this will work against you.
